Intro

Edward R. Tufte, ‘Visual and Statistical Thinking: Displays of Evidence for Decision Making“:

“Good displays of data help to reveal knowledge relevant to understanding mechanism, process and dynamics, cause and effect.”

In academia, visualisation is mainly used for analysis and not so much for presentation. Through this blog, I want to go one step further and improve the diffusion of knowledge through data storytelling. I am convinced that you can attract people’s attention more easily with a good visualisation of your scientific work – no matter if it is for a conference, a proposal or a scientific or non-scientific publication.

Moreover, the presentation of data has become a mainstream pursuit – not only in academia but in other disciplines (i.e. journalism) as well. Yet very few of us have been taught how to do this task well. With this blog, I want to share my ideas and work with you.
